photographic evidence of the circadian rhythms of flora&fauna

Feeling like my mind was wilting from lack of physically exploring places and seeing new things during 2020 lockdown, I discovered the peacefulness, adventure and freedom nighttime provides. Unable to sleep from the many intense stresses of the time, my respite was gardening and wandering around my neighborhood at night. The flowers and plants were so alluring in the moody darkness, I had to capture the calming beauty. Typically it would have been with illustration or painting, but to keep in the spirit of exploration I used photography as a new medium. The intense heavy shadows contrast with the brightness of nature’s treasures. It is only in retrospect that the metaphor is clear.

It was my respite but now it is just part of me. I continue my nocturnal wanderings to explore the intriguing cycles of nature at night. Time slows and bends, but they say the loop of the moon and the seasons remain the same. Using only quick snapshots and very minimal to no editing, I document the dreamy and strange beauty that only the quiet darkness can bring. BRING (BEAUTY?) LIGHT TO THE DARKNESS
